[First Impressions] Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?

A “kick” that is strong enough to defeat Pedobear ?!

HAI ppl!

Do you ever have those moments where you get bored of looking at the same thing over and over again? To solve that problem, you decide to add another subject? However, you still get bored. As a result, you add yet another object to your group, and this cycle just repeats until your boredom is solved. Now, I bet you are bored of zombie anime. You are also bored of mahou shoujo. To fix that problem, “Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?” adds both of them together. Wait, you are still bored! Then lets add in ninja. Are you kidding me? Your brain still does not respond! Lets add chainsaws and necromancers to that. Yeah, to discuss how all of this adds up, lets continue.

Plot: Aikawa Ayumu is a zombie, looking for his murderer. Enough said, that is all xD! I will spoil a lot of the jokes if I reveal more, so just stay with me here.

On one hand,  the first episode did very little in terms of plot, but if you don’t care about the main plot, the first episode explores amazing battles with Pedobear, giant crayfish, and more. If you didn’t realize it yet, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? is a comedy, so I won’t care too much about the plot. However, with this array of characters, I’m really interested what can come out of this story.

Music:

Iori Nomizu – Ma・Ka・Se・Te Tonight : A fairly nice metal opening (might just be plain rock, but the beat seems a bit too heavy for that) with solid female vocals. Even though the beat is quite strong, its low volume lowers its presence in the song, so I would have liked it more if the the instruments were a little louder and catchier xD.

Rie Yamaguchi with manzo – Kizuite Zombie-sama, Watashi wa Classmate desu: A Mario tune mixed with a soft song to fit a dance??? I am not exactly sure what to think of this song. Both the beginning and ending sound very similar to a Mario tune I heard before, while the middle is a very soft section with soft voices that fit the cute dance animation. The song is not that great, but combined with the video, it is not bad.

Background Music: Like normal, it fits when it is there, which is not very often, but it is not anything special

Animation: The animation for this show was great. I had a hard time finding static characters (I found a few, but far less than the standard show this season), and the action scenes were of decent quality, sadly not excellent though xD (I have to reserve that rating for movies and other things of that quality). The only real problem I had was that the ending repeated some movements a few too many times. I wish there was a little more variation to their dance at the end.

Entertainment: Prepare for spoilers. Adding together all the previous things (mahou shoujo, ninja, zombies, Pedobear, giant crayfish) and onto that add in chainsaws, males doing the mahou shoujo sequence, male panty flashes, and much much more, and you get a pretty hilarious episode. That is what “Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?” provided for you to enjoy. I pretty much laughed the entire episode. It was just that good.  Besides that, you can also enjoy the quite humorous battle scenes. Wait, that contains a comedy aspect too. Oh well, just enjoy it xD! Sadly, if you don’t fit in the above audiences, this show will probably be for you, but I’ll still recommend you try watching it for the lols, since I find it hard to believe you won’t find this show entertaining.

Well chainsaws are as cool as epic finger pointing, so here is a chainsaw xD

Plot: 3/5
Music: 3/5
Animation:4/5
Entertainment: 5/5

Technical Rating: 4/5
Personal Rating: 4.5/5 My #1 recommendation this season so far

Also, if anyone can tell me, what in the world is a masou shoujo?
